Hotel Palacio Azul is without a doubt one of the finest hotels in Cienfuegos, also known as Cuba’s ‘Pearl of the South.’ The hotel is located seaside and just a 10-minute walk from downtown Cienfuegos. This ideal location grants you the ease of going to the beach or strolling along the Cienfuegos Malecón.
The hotel, designed by Alfredo Fontana, a notable Italian architect, was constructed between 1920 and 1921, as a private mansion. Since then, the building has served many different purposes before finally being converted into a hotel in 2004.
Hotel Palacio Azul received the Hoteles E (Encanto) logo which means that it is specifically designed to support Cuba’s expanding cultural tourism sector, while emphasizing personal attention in an intimate atmosphere. The hotel is also part of a project to restore architectural landmarks in historic urban areas, while also updating the building with modern amenities so they can be used as hotels.
Hotel Palacio Azul has only seven rooms, which are named for different flowers. The Marilope, Lily and Butterfly rooms are located on the first floor. The Orchid, Dahlia, Verbena and Margarita rooms are located on the second floor. All rooms are air-conditioned and offer satellite television.
