The compact hotel radiates coziness, whether you fancy sipping a coffee in the patio or supping on one of Havana’s best paellas in the adjacent restaurant. Everything here has an aura of the historic, from the colonial furniture to the glazed ceramic tiles signed by Cuban personalities such as Javier Soto Mayor, Silvio Rodriguez and Chucho Valdés on the walls of the bar.

The rustic staircase leads to the upper floor, around which are arranged the 14 rooms, some with balconies overlooking the patio. The tasteful interior with its beamed wooden ceiling painted green adds to the charm. Not surprisingly, guests who discover the Hostal Valencia tend to return here on every trip – it’s that lovely.
